The traditional alpine village of Morzine sits at the top of a beautiful mountain valley, in between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc. One of 12 villages in the Portes du Soleil, the largest linked ski area in the world, the village offers excellent facilities for winter holidays.
A short distance from Geneva airport, Morzine is one of the closest resorts for skiers to make the most of your winter holiday. Although the chalet is not fully ready till 4pm on your arrival day we have secure storage so should you arrive on an early flight and wish to make the most of the afternoon on the mountain or wish to ski on your departure day there is somewhere to store your luggage and change!
If you choose to drive then Morzine is one of the most accessible resorts and with private off-road parking so you will be safe in the knowledge that your vehicle will be secure during your stay at no extra cost. You may have some snow clearing to do during your stay but that is a pleasure and the kids will love to join in and help! If you don’t choose to use your car during your stay then the FREE bus stop is only 20 meters from the chalet and has a regular service to the Pleney and Super-Morzine lifts and the village centre. Our favourite restaurant in Morzine (La Chaudanne) is only 20 meters from the chalet and it has a lovely cellar bar for pre-dinner or after dinner drinks. Likewise the supermarket is only 60 meters away for fresh bread & croissants, everyday necessities and is open 7 days a week.
In winter the pretty alpine village of Morzine is transformed by a blanket of snow, creating a winter haven for adults and children alike. Navigate the area on skis, snowboards, snowshoes or on foot and explore the many hidden corners of this beautiful area. Morzine provides excellent access in to Avoriaz and the Portes du Soleil ski area beyond. Non-skiers are well catered for with plenty of shops, 2 ice skating rinks and of course bars and restaurants. There is an indoor swimming pool complex with sauna and wellness area.
Chalet La Ruche is a great central chalet for summer holidays. Right in the heart of the Morzine everything is accessible on foot or bicycle. A 50m2 south facing terrace provides the perfect space to unwind, enjoy mountain views and make the most of the alpine culinary delights. There is a BBQ, outdoor furniture and sunshades to help you enjoy the outdoor space. There is a secure cave for bike storage and bike washing facilities. You’ll quickly settle in to a comfortable, spacious chalet just a quick stroll from the Morzine centre.
In the summer the snowy pistes of Morzine, Les Gets and the Portes du Soleil are transformed in to a lush green playground for those seeking an active holiday in the mountains. Outdoor sports for the whole family include mountain biking, canyoning, walking, road cycling and much more. The olympic size outdoor pool with children’s pool is a fabulous place to relax whilst soaking up the sunshine. Fresh alpine air gives families the outdoor playground to enjoy exhilarating sports and a beautiful mountain environment. Morzine put on a fabulous selection of events during the summer; Spartan races, cyclosportive road cycling events, Mountain Biking events and much more.
Morzine is a great base to discover the Haute Savoie region; day trips to Annecy, Evian & Chamonix. Take a look at our summer Gallery to see some of the breathtaking landscapes and location for you to enjoy.
If you choose to drive to Morzine then your car will enable you to discover the area to the full but should you choose to fly to Geneva then we would be happy to recommend a transfer company for your return transfers to Morzine.
That Extra Mile! Les Gets and Morzine are two of twelve resorts in the Portes du Soleil ski domain. Avoriaz, Linga, Chatel, Torgon, Morgins, Champoussin, Les Crosets, Champery, Grand Terche & La Chappelle d’Abondance are the other 10 resorts in the Portes du Soleil. A fabulous 650km of piste is ready and waiting for you to explore!
The nursery slopes on Morzine Pleney and the Chavannes pistes of Les Gets are excellent locations for learning and are very accessible. Both locations provide easy group meeting points after ski school or for lunch. There are specific areas for young children with fun “penguin” runs to aid their enjoyment and ability.
The ski areas of Les Gets and Morzine are an intermediate’s paradise. The slopes of Ranfolly, Rosta and La Turche offer endless blues and reds. Tree lined pistes are plentiful and on powder days are a delight to discover and enjoy. The larger area of the Portes du Soleil will never fail to satisfy a skiers/boarders quest for adventure.
Whether you prefer steep challenging groomed pistes or off piste powder you will not be disappointed in Les Gets and Morzine. The most challenging slopes in Les Gets are on Mont Chery and Nyon/ Chamossiere in Morzine. The Mont Chery snowpark gets hands down approval from skiers and boarders and on a powder day cannot be beaten!
The children will enjoy the ‘Petit Trains’ that run in both resorts. The Les Gets train links the Chavannes piste with Mont Chery. The train in Morzine links the Pleney slopes to the Super Morzine telecabine.
